King Charles and Queen Camila of Britain were officially received in Italy with a formal ceremony at the Quarinale Palace in Rome on Tuesday (8).
The royal couple was received by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura after arriving with an escort mounted from Corazzieri guards. The national hymns of the two countries were played, and the United Kingdom flag was raised above the palace.
King Charles inspected a guard of honor composed of members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Carbinieri and Ceremonial Guards of Italy. A whole FECCE Tricolori Set of Italy and Red Arrows of Britain occurred next.
It is Charles’s 17th official visit to Italy and his first trip abroad this year, while he is still undergoing cancer treatment.
Coincides with the 20th wedding anniversary of Charles and Camilla, who married on April 9, 2005.
Their marriage occurred one day after the funeral of Pope John Paul II, to which Charles attended as then heir to the throne.
