King Charles gives refrigerators to the needy

Refrigerators And freezers. There charity it also passes by appliances that preserve food. And so, King Charles III made a personal donation that the British press calls “incredible” to charities and food banks across England to support the country’s needy people. The sovereign’s donated funds will help hundreds of food banks and groups across the UK store more food, thanks to donated fridges and freezers.
The appliances will be distributed to the groups identified by Project Felix in London and across the UK by the Trussell Trust, FareShare and the British Asian Trust. The first 800 refrigerators and freezers will be delivered by spring.

What numbers are we talking about? The initial fund amounts to one million pounds and includes one “substantial personal donation” of Charles, a grant from the Prince of Wales’s fund and donations from a range of donors, said Project Felix.

The period between Christmas Eve and the New Year is usually the period in which food donations increase, but food banks are often forced to refuse them because they do not have adequate cold storage. And so the king’s household appliances will allow these groups to store larger quantities of food, which they can draw on later in times of lean, and to reduce food waste.

The managing director of the Project FelixCharlotte Hill said: “We see a huge increase in surplus donations at Christmas, but sadly we have had to turn down tens of thousands of pounds of food in previous years. We knew freezing food would be a good solution. Now, thanks to this incredible donation from His Majesty the King and a number of donors, we will not only be able to freeze and store large quantities of food, but we will be protected when food supplies are scarce due to seasonal declines and we can create a long-lasting infrastructure for our EU partners that will help people for many years to come.”
