The sculpture, two meters high and weighing 1.1 tons, was created on the occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and finished last August, a month before her death: makes a fine show of itself in an external niche of York Cathedral; dressed in the cloak of the Order of the Garter, the sovereign has the crown of state of George IV on her head and, next to her, the symbols of power, the scepter and the cruciger orb. No one has ever thrown eggs against her. The new king has not yet conquered everyone.
