King Charles III and the firstborn William they are increasingly richer, at least this is what emerges from a survey by Channel 4 in collaboration with the The Sunday Times from the title The King, The Prince and their Secret Millions who literally did the math in the pocket of the sovereign and the heir to the throne. A real one economic empire, built over time, constantly growing and, above all, almost tax-free.

Income from million pounds per yearderiving from commercial income on land annexed to royal possessions in ancient times; spaces given under concession to both the public and private sectors and which guarantee significant revenues.
The royal family – highlights the investigation – it charges for the right to cross rivers, unload goods on beaches and run cablesrun schools and charities and even dig graves. They make money from toll bridges, ferries, sewer pipes, churches, pubs, distilleries, gas pipelines, boat moorings, opencast and underground mines, car parks, rental houses and wind turbines. They are real landlordsin short, with the advantage of do not pay taxes on their income due to an agreement with the Treasury Ministry which partially exempts them. This large network of “tenants” also includes the Army, the Navy, the NHS, i.e. the National Health Service and countless charities of which the king and his son are patrons, a sort of testimonial.

Then there are also contradictions: in the days in which Prince William is busy in South Africa for the Earthshot Prize it is discovered that the Duchy of Cornwall emits carbon in very large quantities. “The Duchy of Cornwall complies with all UK regulations and standards applicable to its range of business activities,” replied Prince William’s spokesperson. A similar response came from the Duchy of Lancaster which reiterated its commitment on the environmental front, without however denying the nature similar to that of a “commercial company”. It turns out, meanwhile, that in 2023, the Duchy of Lancaster earned King Charles 35 million pounds, while William earned 30 million. The latter would use the amount to finance his activities, from charitable to private ones (so we read on the Institution’s website), but the prince appears reluctant on the communication front: last summer his I refuse to declare how much I paid in income taxes of the Duchy itself, probably little or nothing.
All while Rachel Reeves, Treasury Minister in the Starmer Government, presented a 40 billion pound budget to fix the budget holes. The royal family probably won’t be affected, something the English already don’t like.
