King Charles III goes to Scotland, Rosa Weber takes over STF and more than 12 September

The trip of King Charles III to Scotland following the farewell of Queen Elizabeth II, and the inauguration of Minister Rosa Weber as President of the Supreme Court (STF) are among the highlights of this Monday (12).

King Charles III leaves for Scotland following Queen’s farewell

King Charles III will travel to Scotland this Monday (12) to continue the series of farewells to Queen Elizabeth II. THE CNN details the monarch’s schedule below.

Early in the morning, Charles III will go to Westminster Hall in London, where the Houses of Parliament will pay their respects.

At 12:45 pm local time (8:45 am GMT), together with his wife, Queen consort Camilla Parker Bowles, the king is scheduled to arrive in Edinburgh, the Scottish capital. They will move to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where the queen’s body is.

From 14:35 (10:35 GMT), the coffin will go to St Giles Cathedral. A prayer will be held with the presence of the royal family.

There will still be a “state wake”, which will last 24 hours. On the occasion, the population of Scotland will be able to say goodbye to royalty.

Rosa Weber assumes the presidency of the STF this Monday (12); meet the minister

Minister Rosa Weber assumes the presidency of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) this Monday (12). The magistrate, who succeeds Minister Luiz Fux, was elected in early August and will preside over the Court for the next year.

As she will be 75 years old in October 2023, Rosa Weber will have a little more than a year in office until she is compulsorily retired.

Weber was elected with 10 votes in favor and 1 against – as it is common for the minister who will assume the presidency to vote for his vice, Weber voted for Luís Roberto Barroso for the post of vice presidency, which until then was held by herself, in the Fux management.

We will gradually move forward, Zelensky tells CNN about retaking territory

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke this Sunday (11) to CNN about the Ukrainians’ effort to retake the parts of the country’s territory that were invaded by the Russia .

“We will not stand still, we will gradually, slowly, move forward,” the president said in an exclusive interview with journalist Fareed Zakaria.

Zakaria highlighted the recent information about the advance of troops from the Ukraine in cities like Kherson and other locations in the east, and questioned whether this would be the start of a campaign to reverse the Russian invasion.

When addressing the environmental agenda, the presidential candidates point to the need to protect the Amazon, fighting fires and deforestation in the largest forest in the world.

To solve this issue, they are betting on different paths, from paying landowners who preserve more areas than the minimum required by law to strengthening inspection bodies in the fight against loggers, prospectors and squatters.

The proposals for the environmental area also involve changing the energy matrix in search of cleaner energy; the implementation of a carbon credits market; initiatives that preserve Brazilian biomes; and the strengthening of Brazilian sea conservation actions.
