King Charles meets Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni

King Charles III, from the United Kingdom, arrived on Wednesday (9) to Villa Pamphilj in Rome, Italy, to meet the Italian first minister, Giorgia Meloni, on the third day of a state visit to reinforce ties between nations.

The monarch, who makes his 18th official visit to Italy, is on his first trip abroad this year, while continuing his cancer treatment.

The United Kingdom left the European Union in 2020, and the royal visit is seen as part of a continuous effort of London to relieve Brexit (nickname given to the exit) with the ancient EU allies.

Charles must speak in a joint session of Parliament – the first British monarch to receive this honor.

King Charles and Queen Camilla, who complete 20 years of marriage on Wednesday (9), arrived in Italy on Tuesday (8) to start the state visit.

The royal couple was received by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura after arriving with an escort mounted from Corazzieri guards.

The national hymns of the two countries were played, and the United Kingdom flag was raised above the palace.
