Targeting corporate customers, Kioxia introduced the FL6 solid state drives. These PCIe 4.0 SSDs, supporting NVMe 1.4 and NVMe-oF protocols, use Kioxia’s proprietary XL-Flash. They are said to be “bridging the speed gap between DRAM and TLC SSDs.”
Based on BiCS Flash SLC 3D Flash technology, XL-Flash offers low latency and high speed performance. It is designed for use in enterprise data centers and storage systems.
The drives are available in sizes from 800 GB to 3.2 TB. The resource reaches 60 DWPD, the mean time between failures is 2.5 million hours. Currently, trial samples of drives are shipped to key partners and customers of Kioxia.
