Rapporteur’s Amendments
By eight votes to two, the virtual plenary of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) yesterday approved the resumption of execution of the rapporteur’s amendments. Now, the money that was paralyzed is back under the control of parliamentarians. The decision comes after Congress approved, at the beginning of the month, new transparency rules for the allocation of resources.
Debt installment
The Chamber of Deputies approved the Refis bill, a measure that provides discounts of up to 90% in fines and interest and 100% in legal charges for debts owed by small businesses and individual micro-entrepreneurs during the pandemic. The matter goes on for approval by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
pre-salt sale
The second phase of the auction of two pre-salt areas in the Santos basin, off the coast of São Paulo, is scheduled for today. According to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), the concession should generate over R$ 11 billion for the Union’s coffers.
Kiss club
The president of the STF, Minister Luiz Fux, decided to maintain the prison of the four people convicted of the fire at the Kiss nightclub, in Santa Maria (RS). The opinion eliminates any possibility of habeas corpus for defendants who have served sentences of at least 18 years.
Fire in Osaka
27 people had cardiac arrest and at least 19 died after a psychiatric clinic caught fire in the city of Osaka, in southern Japan. Police suspect the fire was of criminal origin.
