Kizilelma: Erdogan’s son-in-law says he has completed production of prototype ultrasonic drone

Baykar has finished assembling its second prototype Bayraktar Kizilelma attack drone. This was announced by Selcuk Bayraktar, son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“We collected the 2nd prototype of Kizilelma (red apple), which we prepared for the Samsunda exhibition,” Bayraktar said. The first prototype was completed in June 2022. The first flights of both prototypes are expected in 2023.

Baykar Defense company owned by Selcuk Bayraktar’s brother, is a company that not only has hoarded since Turkey’s withdrawal from the F-35 program and Turkey’s entry into the Syrian, Libyan and Nagorno-Karabakh wars, but continues to earn by selling drones in wars Ethiopia and Ukraine.

Yes, yes as broadcast a few days ago the company has the capacity to build 20 drones per month and has a three-year backlog of orders.

Kizilelma is a supersonic stealth UAV. The drone is being developed as part of the MIUS project [Muharip İnsansız Uçak Sistemi ή Σύστημα Μη Επανδρωμένου Μαχητικού Αεροσκάφους στα ελληνικά]. The new UAV was unveiled on August 4, 2021. One year after Kizilelma reached the prototype stage.

According to the data provided by the company, the UAV will have an operating height of 12,000 meters. The UAV will also have a take-off weight of 5.5 tonnes. Bayraktar’s payload will be 1.5 tons. The drone will drop one ton of ammunition.

While MIUS-A will be able to reach near-sonic speeds with the Ukrainian AI-25TLT engine, MIUS-B will be supersonic with the Ukrainian AI-322F engine and the Turkish TEI TF-6000. MIUS-B will have a 2.5 times more powerful engine, which significantly distinguishes it from MIUS-A in terms of technical characteristics.

It is assumed that the unmanned aerial vehicles of the MIUS project will take off from the mini aircraft carrier TCG Anatolia [L-400] without the aid of an associated launch system.

The approximate characteristics of Bayraktar Kizilelma are a maximum speed of 900 km/h, a flight speed of 740 km/h and a combat range of 930 km. This combat drone will be able to stay in the air for about 5 hours at a maximum operating height of 10,700 meters .
