Knife attack on a police officer in France: From Algeria the perpetrator stabbed him in the “name of the Prophet”

An alarm was sounded by the French authorities early on Monday morning (8/11) when A man attacked a police officer driving a patrol in front of the Cannes police station with a knife, in southeastern France. The perpetrator said that he committed this act “in the name of the Prophet”, sources close to the law enforcement forces told the French Agency.

BFMTV, citing its own sources close to law enforcement, said earlier that the perpetrator opened the door of a patrol car parked in front of the police station and stabbed the man in the driver’s seat. He then tried to stab a second police officer inside the vehicle while making the round of the vehicle, but a third police officer inside the car shot him, seriously injuring him.

The attack took place around 06:30 (local time; 07:30 Greek time).
