A knife with red spots received in the mail by the Minister of Tourism of Spain, Maroto stripes, said today (26/4) a source of the Ministry of Interior, a few days after high-ranking security officials and the leader of the party Unidas Podemos received threats for their lives.
An investigation has been launched into the case, the source said, according to the APE-MPE, without giving further details. Another source from the Maroto ministry said it is not clear if the red spots on the knife were blood or paint.
Maroto, who comes from the Socialist Party, has been Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism in the left-wing government of Spain since 2018.
Threats and violence will never silence the voice of democracy. Freedom will prevail. Thank you very much for all the support in a day that reinforces my will to work for a better future.

Two more threatening letters
Last week, Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Pablo Iglesias of the radical left-wing Unidas Podemos party and Maria Gameth, leader of the Guardia Civil police force, also received life-threatening letters.
“Your wife, your parents and you are sentenced to death, your time is running out,” wrote the letter to Iglesias, a former deputy prime minister.
Iglesias posted the letter on Twitter along with a photo showing seven bullets which he said contained the envelope.
