In Russia, the Moscow City Court applied preliminary protection measures against two funds of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, Meduza reported. The prosecutor’s office demands to recognize them as extremist organizations.
The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) and the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights are prohibited from performing certain actions, the court did not indicate which ones, since the case is being considered behind closed doors.
FBK director Ivan Zhdanov clarified in Telegram that the fund is prohibited:
– organize meetings;
– use the state media;
– to participate in elections;
– use bank deposits.
Zhdanov noted that FBK, as a legal entity, never organized rallies, did not participate in elections and does not have deposits, but only an account.
In a commentary to MBH-media, Zhdanov said that the bans were formulated illiterately and that FBK did not plan to take them into account in its activities.
