Kremlin: Biden’s comment on Putin’s war criminal unacceptable

LAST UPDATE: 14.31

The Kremlin has called US President Joe Biden’s comment that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin should be tried for war crimes committed by the Russian military in Ukraine unacceptable and unworthy.

Speaking to reporters via teleconference, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said the United States was likely to impose new sanctions on Russia, according to Reuters.

“Americans are unlikely to abandon this new favorite practice,” Peshkov said.

The Russian president’s spokesman once again called the accusations against the Russian armed forces for the massacre in Boutsa, northwest of Kiev, “baseless”, noting that it was an attempt to “discredit” Moscow.

He spoke of “short-sighted” logic in the expulsion of Russian diplomats from various European (and not only) countries, adding that Russia would respond “by appropriate means”.
