The energy balance in Europe will be severely affected if an embargo on Russian oil is adopted, something that does not apply to the United States to the same extent, the Kremlin said on Monday, through Dmitry Peshkov.
Some European Union governments are pushing for a complete ban on Russian crude imports in a bid to put further pressure on Russia to end its military invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking to the press, D. Peshkov noted that an oil embargo is a “very complicated case”.
Earlier, the Vice-President of the Commission and High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, noted that the issue of sanctions in the Russian energy sector will be raised at today’s meeting of 27 foreign ministers.
