That the Moscow and Beijing have a similar attitude towards the USA and regarding the resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, announced Monday (18/9), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
In its relevant statement, published after the meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, the ministry also recalls the close ties that connect the two countries.
In his text Kremlin among other things, it is underlined that Moscow and Beijing have “similar” positions regarding “US actions on the international stage, including those of an anti-Russian and anti-Chinese nature”.
“The two sides discussed in detail the current situation in Ukraine, pointing out the futility of efforts to resolve the crisis without taking into account Russia’s interests and, even more so, without Russia’s participation“, is noted in the announcement as broadcast by the Athens News Agency.
Wang is making a four-day visit to Russia starting yesterday, Monday, where he will discuss issues related to security. The Chinese minister’s visit to Moscow is the latest in a series of high-level meetings between the two allied countries.
Besides, Lavrov informed his Chinese counterpart about “the main conclusions” of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s visit to Russia, while Wang informed him about the discussions he had with White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
China, which wants to appear neutral in the Ukraine conflict despite backing the Kremlin, published a 12-point text in late February to resolve the crisis, which was met with reservations by the global community.
During his meeting with Lavrov, Wang assessed that this plan “takes into account the security concerns of all sides and is in favor of addressing the causes of the conflict”, as reported by the Xinhua agency.
