The presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, plan to hold a telephone conversation on Saturday, February 12, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told reporters, according to Russia’s Ria Novosti news agency.
“Indeed, the American side has requested contact with President Putin and the discussion between the two presidents is scheduled for tomorrow night,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Peshkov stressed that the phone call was initiated by the United States.
Meanwhile, a telephone conversation between the two presidents was confirmed by a US official in statements to Reuters.
“They will talk on Saturday. Russia suggested the phone call be made on Monday. We proposed on Saturday and they accepted,” the official said.
The last time the two presidents spoke by telephone was late last year and they also had telephone conversations in early December.
The main topics of these contacts were the Ukrainian crisis and the provision of legal guarantees to ensure Russia’s security.
