The Kremlin said today that Moscow was still waiting for Ukraine’s response to the written proposals in the peace talks between the two sides, and wondered why Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was ignoring the document with the proposals.
Zelensky said Wednesday that he had not seen or heard of the document that the Kremlin said he had sent.
“I repeat, as I said yesterday, our wording, in its latest version, has been passed on to our interlocutors, to the Ukrainian negotiating delegation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told reporters.
Peshkov said the Kremlin had been informed of Zelensky’s statement “which raises serious questions as to why no one informed President Zelensky of the versions in the text.”
Statements made by both sides seem to underscore the gap between the two sides’ positions but also the poor state of communication between them, eight weeks after Russia sent its troops and tanks to Ukraine and three weeks after the last direct talks. they had on March 29th.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on April 12 that the talks had reached a stalemate. Ukraine’s chief negotiator said on Tuesday that it was difficult to predict when they would be repeated due to the siege of Mariupol as Moscow wanted to strengthen its position on its new military offensive.
