Kremlin says Biden fuels tension over Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Kremlin on Thursday accused US President Joe Biden of fueling tensions by saying he expected Russia to invade Ukraine within days, according to the RIA news agency.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was responding to Biden’s comment that an invasion would likely take place “in the next few days”.

Russia has gathered a huge force close to Ukraine’s borders, but continues to claim that it is Western actions and statements that are actually fueling the crisis.

US warns of Russian invasion at UN meeting

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also warned on Thursday that Russian forces were preparing to launch an attack on Ukraine in the “coming days”, adding that Russia planned to manufacture a pretext for an attack on its neighbor. which could include a fake or real attack using chemical weapons.

Blinken told a United Nations Security Council meeting on Ukraine that he had sent a letter to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov proposing a face-to-face meeting in Europe next week.

The secretary also said that he asked Russia to clearly state during the meeting that it will not invade Ukraine.
