Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the conflict in Ukraine by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Monday, the Kremlin said in a statement. According to the report, the call was at the request of Israel.
In a statement on the call, the Kremlin said that Bennett had told Putin about his recent contacts with leaders of several countries on the matter and that both had agreed to continue their dialogue.
Bennett has maintained numerous connections with Putin in an attempt to help efforts to resolve the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
On Monday, the fourth round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place, which had a “technical pause” on Monday (14) and will conclude on Tuesday (15). Regarding the negotiation between the delegations, Podoliak wrote on Twitter: “There was a technical pause in the negotiations until tomorrow. For further work in the sub-working groups and clarification of individual definitions. Negotiations continue…”. Before the announcement of the break, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the meeting between the delegations “difficult conversations”.
The Russians want Ukraine to change its constitution to safeguard neutrality (outside NATO), in addition to considering Crimea as Russian territory and recognizing the breakaway republics of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent territories.
