Kremlin: Shoigu briefs Putin on developments in Ukraine

LAST UPDATE: 14.22

According to the Kremlin-based Interfax news agency, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Security Council on Russia’s “military operation” in Ukraine on Thursday, appearing on television.

Earlier, according to the Russian news agency Ria Novosti, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said that Shoigu had a lot on his mind at the moment because of Ukraine and that it was not the best time to appear in the media.

“Look, the Secretary of Defense has a lot on his mind right now, as you can see. There is a special military operation going on. Of course, this is not the right time for media appearances. That is perfectly understandable,” Peshkov told journalists when asked to comment on the “disappearance” of Shoigu from the media for several days.

Asked to comment on reports about Soigo’s alleged health problems, Peshkov said: “There is no reason to listen to these reports.” He urged journalists to address the issue to the country’s Ministry of Defense.

It is recalled that according to yesterday’s report of the Ukrainian newspaper Pravda in collaboration with investigative journalism sites based in London, Shoigu had been making a public appearance since March 11, which means that the previous 12 of the 28 days of the war in Ukraine he was missing.
