Russia’s talks with Ukraine are not easy, but the important thing is that they continue, the Kremlin spokesman said today. Dmitry Peshkovaccording to Reuters, which broadcasts information from the Russian agency RIA.
Peshkov said Russia would like to continue talks in neighboring Belarus but Kyiv was opposed to the idea. The two sides held several rounds of talks in Belarus last month, until their delegations met in Istanbul last week.
According to RIA, Peshkov gave an interview on Belarusian television, which will be broadcast later tonight.
The spokesman reportedly said that one of the goals of the Moscow military operation in Ukraine was to “save” the self-proclaimed “democracies” of Donetsk and Luhansk and to restore them at the 2014 border.
The Kremlin also expects “nationalist ideas” to be banned in Ukraine and that the Russian language will regain its place in the country.
