Kremlin: Turkey’s view on Crimea does not hinder our cooperation

The view of Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the status of Crimea does not prevent cooperation with Russia when there is a mutual interest, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“Ankara from the beginning was talking about its disagreement with us on this issue, but Crimea is part of the Russian Federation, so it is impossible to do what Erdogan says. Nevertheless, this does not prevent where it is in our interest, to cooperate with Turkey. We particularly appreciate Turkey’s efforts to “untangle” complicated situations, as happened with grain. That is why and where it suits us, we have had contacts and we will continue to have them. There are very good possibilities for deepening cooperation,” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said in response to a question about President Erdogan’s reiteration of the Turkish position that Crimea is Ukrainian territory.
