Kremlin: WHO members’ resolution against Russia is purely political

The Russian Health Ministry announced today that a resolution of the World Health Organization that may lead to the closure of the regional office of the Organization in Russia due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine is “purely political in nature”, TASS news agency reported.

Member countries of the European section of the World Health Organization earlier today adopted a resolution that could lead to the closure of the WHO regional office in Russia and the suspension of meetings in the country, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The special meeting of the European section of the WHO adopted the resolution, supported by Ukraine and the European Union, by 43 votes to 3 (Russia, Belarus and Tajikistan) and two abstentions.
