Kristen Stewart, in the role (by Chanel) of Lady Diana

The first image of Spencer, the film – expected for 2022 – directed by Chilean director Pablo Larraín and who sees Kristen Stewart in the role of Lady Diana, is a faithful portrait of the Princess of Wales.

A fragment of film that in every detail aims to evoke the authentic image of the royal lamentation: from the tilted head to the pensive gaze facing the horizon, from the short golden cut to that red tweed coat with wide collar in sight. But not just any coat, but an original piece signed by Chanel, belonging to ready-to wear collection FW 1988/89, identical to the one Lady D. wore on her visit to the Great Ormond Street Hospital For Children.

It was February of 1992, the year narrated by the film, as well as the one in which Diana made the decision to divorce Carlo, and, for the occasion, the royal chose to combine the double-breasted designer with a red headdress with black floral detail. To finish it all off, a pair of gold earrings whose shape recalled the pairs of golden buttons. The straight line, the large pockets on the front, the cut at the knee tell the fashion of the time and at the same time the style of the Princess of Wales, a well-known lover of the creations of the Rue Cambon maison, although, after separating from Carlo, she struggled to to choose.

The reason, according to what was told by sources close to the Princess – first of all, as reported harperbazaar.au, Jayson Bundson, designer who in 1996 attended a styling session of the royal -, was the double C logo, considered by Diana herself a not too hidden reference to the initials of the couple Carlo and Camilla. Although devoid of any connection with royalty, in his eyes, thatintertwining of the two C’s it appeared as a sort of “seal” of that secret and clandestine union that crowded his marriage.

The time had come to undress.
