Kristen Stewart talks about Twilight: “It's such a gay movie”

Actress Kristen Stewart, who played Bella Swan in the “Twilight” saga, said that she began to see an LGBTQIA+ light in films over time.

“I can only see that now. I don't think it necessarily started that way, but I also think the fact that I was there introduced it. It’s such a gay film,” she said in an interview with Variety.

“I mean, Jesus Christ, Taylor [Lautner]Rob [Robert Pattinson] and me, and it was so hidden and not at all right. I mean, a Mormon woman wrote this book. It's all about oppression, about wanting what will destroy you. It’s a very gothic, gay slant that I love,” she added.

In the interview, Kristen Stewart also spoke about the process of coming out in public after her relationship with Robert Pattinson while the whole world paid attention to her relationships.

In 2022, she took her current girlfriend, producer Dylan Meyer, to the Oscar ceremony. “It’s not that I wasn’t scared,” Stewart said in the interview. “It turns out there was no other way to live.”

The vampire romance saga starring Robert Pattinson (as Edward Cullen) and Kristen Stewart (as Bella Swan) has five films released between 2008 and 2012.

The plot is based on the book of the same name by Stephenie Meyer and explores the love triangle between the main couple and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).
