The same title has been covered by personalities of the caliber of Frank Capra and Gina Lollobrigida, Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons, Tilda Swinton and Juliette Binoche. And now it’s Kristen Stewart’s turn: the 32-year-old Californian from Twilight was awarded the honor of becoming the President of the international jury of the 73rd Berlin Film Festivalwhich will take place in the German capital from 16 to 26 February 2023. The actress has been attending the Berlinale since 2010, where she premiered the indie film Welcome to the Rileys with James Gandolfini.

A very Hollywood edition of the festival is expected, contrary to the indie turn of recent years, also because Steven Spielberg will receive the Golden Bear for his career. The director will be at the cinema with the retelling of his childhood in The Fabelmans from 22 December.

«We are really thrilled – commented the event’s artistic directors Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian – that Kristen Stewart has taken on this prestigious task. He is one of the most outstanding talents of his generation. From Bella Swan to the Princess of Wales he has created some truly powerful characters. Young, brilliant yet with an incredible career behind her, Kristen Stewart is the perfect bridge between the United States and Europe”.

Kristen Stewart brought this year to the Cannes Film Festival the futurist drama Crimes of the future with Viggo Mortensen after bringing the biopic to life Spencer on Lady Diana (which earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress) and now has two new projects in the works for the big screen, comedies with very different breaths. In Love me shares the stage with Steven Yeun (Minaries) while Love lies bleeding with Dave Franco. In the meantime, she is writing a TV series with screenwriter girlfriend Dylan Meyer (with whom she has been dating since 2019) and is working as a producer on a story about a group of ghostbusters within the LGBT + community.

Furthermore will make his debut behind the camera in the film The Chronology of water with Imogen Poots (The Father), taken from the memoir of the same name by the American writer Lidia Yuknavitch, after directing the short Like Swin, for which he also edited the screenplay. The story of the feature film tells the story of a woman with a disastrous family situation: despite an abusive father and a mother with suicidal instincts, the young woman tries to navigate problems of all kinds in search of self-affirmation and happiness.
