Kristi Noem was sworn in as secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security this Saturday afternoon (25).
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry posted photos on X of Noem being sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
Vice President J.D. Vance’s office told reporters that he did not participate in the ceremony “due to a scheduling conflict.”
“Due to a scheduling conflict, Secretary Noem’s swearing-in was postponed this afternoon,” said Taylor Van Kirk, Vance’s spokesperson, in a statement.
“We are excited about the work she will do to bring much-needed changes to the Department of Homeland Security and secure the border,” he added.
