Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called the new sanctions against Russia, which the European Union is preparing to announce, “insufficient.”
Mr Kuleba explained that he had seen the draft of the planned fifth round of EU sanctions and added that “as it stands, it is an inadequate response to Russian crime, to the Russian aggression”.
“They need to be strengthened,” he added in a video posted on Twitter.
He demanded that Europe impose an embargo on oil, gas and coal exported by Russia, close European ports on Russian ships and cargo, and exclude other Russian banks from the SWIFT interbank communication system. He added that he expects the same measures to be imposed by the G7.
“After the images from Butsa, considering all the suffering (…) of the Ukrainian civilians, I can no longer ‘call’ and ‘encourage’ politely, I can only demand,” said the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.
