Kuleba: Russian bombings hold 400,000 hostages in Mariupol

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on Wednesday accused Russia of holding 400,000 Mariupol residents hostage by bombing the southern Ukrainian port city despite efforts to create a safe humanitarian corridor for civilians.

“Nearly 3,000 newborn babies are deprived of medicine and food,” he wrote on Twitter. “Russia continues to hold more than 400,000 people hostage in Mariupol, obstructing humanitarian aid and evacuation. The bombing continues.”

Russia has denied that it was targeting civilians in what it calls a “special operation” in Ukraine.
