Kylie Jenner changed her son’s name to a word with a double meaning and sexual connotation

Kylie Jenner revealed, after a year of “mystery”, the name of the second child with travis scott : Air Webster. The novelty, however, generated comments after fans indicated that the meaning of the name in Arabic has a vulgar connotation.

Initially, the socialite and the rapper, who are also the parents of Stormi, 4 years old, decided to name the second child Wolf. However, a month after the birth, in February 2022, Kylie Jenner said that the couple changed their minds.

During an episode of the reality show “Keeping With the Kardashians”, the businesswoman revealed the decision to change because they did not feel “that that was really him”, but guaranteed that the new choice would have the same meaning [lobo, em português].

Last week, Jenner shared a series of photos with her 11-month-old son on her Instagram account with the caption: Aire. In the comments, the baby’s grandmother, Kris Jenner, wrote: “Love you Air Webster “, confirming the child’s new name.

However, the Arab community was stunned by the choice. According to fans of the socialite, as with the Portuguese language, the word can have two meanings, one of which has a sexual connotation.

According to the Urban Dictionary, “Aire” in Arabic means “best friend”, but it can also be used as a popular expression: “my penis”.

Australian journalist of Lebanese origin Antoinette Lattou used Twitter to talk about the matter:

“Should someone tell Kylie Jenner that she renamed her son Aire which is a common Arabic expression for ‘my penis’ or nevermind?”

She continued:

“Anyway, I doubt many people noticed. After all, Arabic is only spoken by around 415 million people.”

Other netizens, who also have Arabic as their first language, mocked the new choice on the social network.

“Dude, Kylie Jenner named her son “aire” which means penis in Arabic”

“Kylie Jenner named her baby Wolf and you guys hated it so she changed his name to Aire and you make sure she knows it means penis in Arabic… Give that poor woman and that baby a break.”

Despite the unusual connotation, Aire would have, for Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, the couple’s followers believe that it has a similar meaning to the original name (in Hebrew, “wolf of God”).

The Nameberry site, specializing in name meanings, explains that “aire” is an old spelling for “air” in English, “ar” in Portuguese.

It is likely, then, that the couple thought of combining the names of both children, as the eldest daughter is called Stormi, inspiration from “storm”, which means storm in English.
