“All citizens in the EU, wherever they live, should have the same opportunities to prevent, treat and survive the cancer» pointed out on Wednesday (1/2) the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakidou.
“For President Ursula von der Leyen, for me, for many of us, the European plan for cancer is indeed personal,” underlined Ms. Kyriakidou.
From Stockholm, where he is for a high-level conference on cancer, he noted that overcoming inequalities across the EU it’s a challenge.
“If we identify and understand where the disparities are, our chances of success are much greater”added the European Commissioner.
At the same time, he said that the Commission, with the European Plan to Fight Cancer, committed to make “a difference for cancer patients and their families, for all European citizens. This can only be achieved by addressing the unacceptable gaps we see today within the EU.”
