“Full vaccination remains our strongest response to it coronavirus and new variants of coronavirus “stressed the EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakidou shortly before her visit to Spain. He added: “We have to make sure that vaccines win the fight, not mutations.”
Mrs. Kyriakidou will be in Madrid tomorrow. According to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, the European Commissioner is expected to meet with Minister of Health Carolina Darias and Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Luis Planas.
Discussions with the Minister of Health will focus on the EU Vaccine Strategy and the development of the national vaccination campaign in Spain, as well as on the progress towards the proposals within the European Health Union.
Ms Kyriakidou said “over 65% of the EU adult population has now been vaccinated with a single dose – in Spain the number is even higher. “We must all continue to move forward and increase the number of fully vaccinated people as soon as possible.”
The discussion with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will focus on key issues related to Food Safety, including the Farm-to-Plate Strategy, animal welfare and antimicrobial resistance.
This visit of the Commissioner is part of the ongoing efforts of the Commission and the commitment of Stella Kyriakidou to support the development of national vaccination campaigns for COVID-19 in the Member States.
