LA Farm certification for feta production is permanently revoked

The final revocation and removal of the certification of the company “LA FARM SA”, for the product “Feta PDO”. decided ELGO – DIMITRA.

The company was included in the Register of Certified Companies, for the activity of production and packaging for the purpose of marketing, of the product “FETA PDO” ..

For the company, it was decided by ELGO-DIMITRA, on 9/9/2021, the temporary revocation of its certification, as after on-site surveillance inspections, as well as inspections at retail points of the product in the Greek market carried out by the Organization, serious violations concerning the non-observance of the production specifications of the product “Feta-PDO”.

ELGO DIMITRA proceeded to the decision of final revocation and removal of the certification of the company “LA FARM SA”, after the completion of the audit process, which took place with the notification to ELGO DIMITRA of the final decision of the Supreme Chemical Council of the General Chemist State, regarding the examination of a product sample “Feta cheese-PDO” private label, in taper 400 gr, with the label “FETA, my choice, more than 3 months of maturation”, produced by the company “LA FARM SA.” ., which was taken in the context of inspections and sampling of ELGO DIMITRA ladders in retail stores (supermarkets).

As mentioned in that decision, for the above sample feta cheese-PDO: “It is NOT NORMAL, because it contains only cow’s milk instead of sheep’s and goat’s milk and has a moisture content of (60.24 ± 0.38)% that exceeds maximum limit of 56%, as well as dry fat (41,52 ± 0,72)% below the minimum limit of 43%, so that the product can be classified as feta cheese. “misleads the consumer as to the identity and composition of the food”.
