La Milanesiana 2022, the next guests: from Hildegard De Stefano to Morgan

The Milanesiana 2022, a review conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi, is back in style. This 23rd edition, on stage until 17 September, includes more than sixty meetings and over 150 guests, promotes nine exhibitions around Italy and it ranges from literature to music, from cinema to science, from art to philosophy passing through theater, law, economics and sport.

Twenty Italian cities involved: seven in Lombardy (Milan, Sondrio, Bergamo, Seregno, Pavia, Bormio and Gardone Riviera), in addition to the stops in Emilia-Romagna (Faenza, Imola, Dozza, Bagno di Romagna, Cervia and Gatteo A Mare) and then Turin, Alessandria , Bassano del Grappa, Ascoli Piceno, Florence, Livigno and Venice.

The parterre of appointments is eclectic and varied and includes, for example, concerts of the most diverse genres, from the violinist Hildegard De Stefano (June 30 in Ascoli Piceno) to Enrico Ruggeri (July 17 in Gatteo a Mare).

From the swimming champion Federica Pellegrini (July 23 in Bormio) to the soccer star Dino Zoff (July 1 in Ascoli Piceno), the greatest exponents of sporting excellence take to the field.

By the Nobel Prize in Literature John Coetzee (July 19 in Milan) to the critic Vittorio Sgarbi (July 4 in Ascoli Piceno, July 18 in Dozza and July 21 in Bormio), the evenings promise unpredictable and very rich.

The file rouge of the arts was born under the symbol of the Rose, painted by Franco Battiato and emblem of the festival, this year reworked by Franco Achilli. The artistic director himself tells it: «The theme of this edition is Omissions. What we should and could have done and didn’t do, what we could and should have said and didn’t say. A theme that has a very wide range of declinations: moral, political, juridical, aesthetic, too: there is no literature without Omissions, as Eco taught. And La Rosa contemplates the colors of Ukraine. We have not been able and wanted to escape the noise of history, and this war, as well as other wars, will enter this Milanesiana.

A Milanesiana who travels, in twenty cities, but with a greater roots in Milan (and in many places in the city, more or less central), compared to what happened in the last two years, due to the COVID-19 emergency (but we are proud to have never stopped emphasizing the importance of meetings in presence and to have always tried to offer them, even in the most difficult moments).

Artists from other continents return to the Milanesiana. And there is – among others – Russian literature, by a great Russian writer, Ludmila Ulitskaya, who will dialogue with writers from other cultural latitudes, as is right and normal. You want Peace, which at this moment means at least this: knowing that there is an aggressor and an attacked ».

Four awards this year: Tribute Award to Maestro Abel Ferrara, the Milanesiana Rose Gold to Edith Bruck and Ludmila Ulitskaya and the Jean-Claude and Nicky Fasquelle Award to Tahar Ben Jelloun.
