La Scala reopens tonight after 199 days of “silence” due to coronavirus

Theater La Scala in Milan opens its doors again tonight (10/05), after 199 days of mandatory cessation, with a concert by his choir and orchestra. The program includes music excerpts from works by Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Wagner and Strauss.

They will be able to watch the concert, outside the theater, only 500 people, due to the observance of safety protocols against coronavirus.

Tonight has a special symbolic significance, since it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the reopening of the famous theater of its big city Italian North, after the end of World War II. The concert, in 1946, was conducted by conductor Arturo Toscanini.

According to the response of APE-MPE, in recent months the La Scala Theater has presented a total of 35 operas and musical performances, which the public could only watch online.
