LaCie, Seagate Technology’s premium brand, has announced the LaCie Mobile SSD Secure and LaCie Portable SSD portable solid state drives. According to LaCie, these devices “set a new standard for performance and are characterized by enhanced capabilities that allow content creators and technology aficionados to safely store and carry their files, movies and photos with them.”
The drives are available in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB sizes. They provide read speeds up to 1050 MB / s and write speeds up to 1000 MB / s. LaCie Mobile SSD Secure features a hardware security mechanism and a lock and unlock feature in the LaCie Toolkit software. The rest of the drives are identical. They are compatible with computers and tablets running Windows, macOS and iOS out of the box. The drives are equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, the signals of which are output to the USB-C connector. A USB-C cable is included in the package. The kit also includes software for backing up and syncing files across multiple devices. In addition, customers have a one-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps.
Sales begin this month. The LaCie Mobile SSD Secure, exclusively for Apple, is priced at $ 140 for 500GB, $ 230 (1TB), or $ 400 (2TB), while the LaCie Portable SSD is $ 130, 210, and $ 370, respectively. In the Russian Federation, the manufacturer’s recommended retail price for a 500 GB LaCie Portable SSD is RUB 10,840, RUB 17,870 for 1 TB, RUB 34,120 for 2 TB. The LaCie Mobile SSD Secure will not be officially sold in Russia.
