Lack of information can put the health of women with endometriosis at risk

Singer Anitta revealed in posts on Twitter last week that she had finally discovered what has been causing her excruciating pain for the past nine years: she has endometriosis.

The Brazilian funk singer spoke of her routine of pain and discomfort and that all these years no doctor has been able to diagnose the disease, which affects 7 million Brazilian women and almost 200 million worldwide.

The artist wanted to make her outburst a warning to other women who also suffer from pain and cannot have a diagnosis of what ails them.

The lack of information puts the health and quality of life of endometriosis patients at risk and has serious consequences, such as depression, diagnosed in approximately 15% of endometriosis patients, and can lead to infertility.

In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents an overview of endometriosis and talks with librarian Thaissa Queiróz, 32, who discovered endometriosis at age 14, in addition to the gynecologist and obstetrician, director of Patient Protection at the Medical College Brazilian of Acupuncture Mara Mendes.
