Lady Gaga announces the release of the theme song for “Top Gun: Maverick”

Lady Gaga announced the release of their new song, “Hold my hand”, this Wednesday (27), on their social media. The song will be the theme of the movie “Top Gun: Maverick”which hits theaters on May 22, expected to be one of the biggest box office hits of the season.

The song will be available next Wednesday (3) and the singer revealed that for her it will be “a love letter to the world during and after a very difficult time”.

“When I wrote this song for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, I didn’t even realize the multiple layers it shows about the heart of the film, my own psyche and the nature of the world we live in. I wanted to turn the song into a song where we share our deep need to be understood and try to understand each other – a desire to be close when we feel so far apart and an ability to celebrate life’s heroes,” he wrote.

Gaga also thanked Tom Cruise and the film’s producers for the opportunity.

“Top Gun: Maverick” is the sequel to 1986’s “Top Gun: Wild Wings” and follows Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who after more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, must train a detachment of Top Gun NCOs for a specialized mission that no pilot alive has ever participated in. Maverick then meets Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), known as “Rooster”, son of his late friend, Lieutenant Nick Bradshaw, also known as “Goose”.

In addition to Cruise, the film features Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell and Lewis Pullman. The direction is by Joseph Kosinski, the same as “Oblivion” and “Tron – Legacy”.
