Lamborghini Urus has set a world speed record on the ice of Lake Baikal among serial crossovers. The Italian SUV managed to accelerate to 298 km / h. The record was set within the framework of the annual festival-competition “Days of Speed”. This was reported by the press service of Lamborghini.
Lamborghini sent a regular production Urus equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine to participate in the festival. The twin-turbo engine develops 650 horsepower and a torque of 850 Nm. In order to accelerate to a hundred from a place, an SUV will need only 3.6 seconds. Pirelli Scorpion Ice Zero 2 tires were used during the race.

The Lamborghini Urus was driven by Russian race car driver Andrey Leontyev, who at one of the training “races” on ice accelerated to 302 km / h, and at the official one – showed a speed of 298 km / h. This indicator was included in the protocol of the FIA and the Russian Automobile Federation. In addition, the Lamborghini Urus showed the best result when driving from a standstill to a distance of 1,000 m: at the exit, the crossover accelerated to 114 km / h. It should be noted that these are preliminary figures from the organizers of the ice race. Official data will be published in April 2021.

Konstantin Sychev, Lamborghini’s Eastern European Representative, said the company has always set itself ambitious and ambitious goals, reinforcing unrivaled performance standards. The extreme race on the ice of Lake Baikal once again proved that the Lamborghini Urus is an ideal SUV in terms of acceleration and top speed. The car is able to conquer any road, be it highway, off-road or even ice.
However, the absolute record of the festival is still held by the Audi RS6 sedan, which in 2013 accelerated to a maximum speed of 335.7 km / h.
