A landslide in the city of Paraty, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, caused the death of six people from the same family. The Municipality of Paraty had previously informed that the total number of victims was seven people, but corrected the information in a note.
Among the dead are Lucimar, whose age was not disclosed, and five of his children: João, 2 years old, Estevão, 5 years old, Yasmim, 8 years old, Jasmin, 10 years old and Luciano, 15 years old. A sixth child was rescued alive and, after receiving care at the Municipal Hospital, was taken to the Praia Brava hospital.
Seven houses were hit in the coastal community of Ponta Negra, according to the city of Paraty. The incident left four people injured, from other families, but not seriously. The Fire Department and Civil Defense teams are on site supporting rescue actions this Saturday (2).
In total, 22 neighborhoods were affected by flooding and other events linked to the rains. There are 71 families displaced so far.
Mosque records one death
Heavy rains have hit the state of Rio. In Mesquita, in Baixada Fluminense, a 38-year-old man died electrocutedaccording to the Civil Defense.
The Civil Defense of Mesquita has been working since dawn to minimize the consequences of the rain that hit the municipality from Friday night (1st). According to the city hall, a task force acts in the municipality, with services of inspection of residences, clearing and cleaning of roads.
Slide in Angra dos Reis
A landslide in the city of Angra dos Reis, in Rio de Janeiro, resulted in the death of a 4 year old girland at least 10 victims are under the rubble after heavy rains hit the region, according to information from the State Civil Defense (Sedec-RJ) and the Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ).
