Lane says the deposit rate could still be lowered if necessary

Commenting on the prospects for monetary policy in an interview with the Financial Times (FT) on Tuesday, the chief economist of the European Central Bank (ECB), Phillip Lane, has said that “we could still lower the deposit rate if necessary”.

Additional comments:

We are not at the lower limit in terms of rates“.

“The market he doesn’t think we will raise rates in 2-3 years“.
