Strengthening Israel’s ties with Arab partners is a deterrent to Iran, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said today after inviting his counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Egypt to at St. Boker, in the Negev desert in southern Israel.
“What we are doing is writing history, building a new regional architecture based on progress, technology, religious tolerance, security cooperation and intelligence gathering,” Lapid said.
“This new architecture – the common possibilities we are building – frightens and deters our common enemies, first and foremost Iran and its representatives,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah today to hold talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian presidency said.
This rare visit of the Jordanian king to Ramallah, the first since 2017, takes place after a meeting yesterday, Sunday, between Mahmoud Abbas and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
