A fire hit a unit of the Carrefour supermarket chain on Avenida dos Autonomistas, in Osasco, Metropolitan region of São Paulo, on the night of this Sunday (14).
According to the Fire Department, eight vehicles were dispatched to the scene to control the fire that was spreading across the roof of the building. The fire reportedly started around 11:30 p.m.
A victim was taken to a nearby Emergency Care Unit (UPA) after inhaling smoke, according to firefighters, who controlled the fire at around 2:40 am on Monday morning (15).
The supermarket is located near the “SuperShopping” shopping complex. According to the mayor of Osasco, Rogério Lins, the Fire Department rescued animals from the Cobasi pet market, which is next to the fire site.
The causes of the fire are still being investigated.
