A large tree fell in Osasco, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, on Thursday night (18). Two cars and the region's electrical wiring were hit, and the wall of a state school was destroyed by the impact with the tree.
According to Osasco city hall, the fall was caused by the heavy rains and winds recorded yesterday. The tree was on the grounds of the Tarsila do Amaral State School, on Juan Vicente Street, in the Jardim Bandeiras neighborhood.
According to the city hall, the tree did not hit anyone. A 70-year-old woman, however, was injured after being frightened by the noise caused by the fall and trying to run. She fell, fractured her femur, and was taken to Antônio Giglio Municipal Hospital. Her health condition is stable.
There was also a dog in one of the affected cars, according to Civil Defense. He was not injured and firefighters were able to rescue the animal without any major complications.
The removal of the tree and cleaning of the site were carried out this Friday morning (19) by teams from the city hall and Enel, which had to interrupt the electricity supply in the region.
Teams from the Civil Defense, Fire Department, Municipal Civil Guard and Military Police also participate in the action, as well as employees from the Public Works and Environment departments. Tractors and trucks are used for the service.
