Lasagna and tacos: go behind the scenes of Biden’s preparation for the CNN debate

At the Camp David presidential retreat, American President Joe Biden and his top advisors are not letting anything go by.

For an entire week before the presidential debate promoted by CNN This Thursday (27), Biden’s public agenda was emptied to allow long days of political discussions and simulated rehearsals.

During hours of discussions in rustic mountain lodges, Biden and a rotating cast of aides worked to anticipate anything and everything the president might face inside the studio. CNN in Atlanta.

This includes the questions that will be asked, but also the temperament of the Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

Fueled by comfort foods like lasagna and tacos, the debate team reflected on Trump’s recent interviews and public speeches while preparing the president’s responses to whatever Trump — and the moderators — might throw their way.

Conversations began informally and the environment provided a more relaxed atmosphere. Biden and his team dressed casually.

Inside Camp David’s large hangar, a replica of the debate stage was prepared, including the bright television lights.

Walking back and forth between the hangar and the theater, Biden used a podium to practice, alongside his lawyer, Bob Bauer, who played Trump.

Other advisors served as the anchor moderators of the CNN Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, sources told CNN .

Biden also watched a video taken by one of his staff during a visit to the CNN so he could see exactly what his view would be from his position behind the podium.
