The extended ranking of The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024 was revealed this Wednesday (22) and, among the selected establishments, only one Brazilian house appears between 51st and 100th place . The event that will reveal the 1st to 50 best restaurants will be on June 5th, in Las Vegas.
O Lasai in Rio, home of the chef Rafael Costa e Silva, which has just won its second Michelin star, appears in the 58th place on the renowned list, same position occupied in 2023. The restaurant prioritizes vegetables grown on farms in the vicinity of the Marvelous City and serves only 10 diners per night.
The expanded list of 51-100 includes restaurants on six continents and this year has 12 new participants from 11 different cities, with 13 members from Asia, 23 from Europe, six from North America, five from South America, one from Middle East, one from Africa and one from Oceania.
South America has five members on the expanded list. Leo de Bogotá – from The World's Best Female Chef 2022, Leonor Espinosa – is at number 53. Mérito de Lima appears at 55, while Mil de Cusco is at 73. Lasai in Rio de Janeiro is at 58 and Nuema, in Quito – home of The World's Best Pastry Chef 2023, by PÃa Salazar – occupies number 61.

The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024 list is voted on by 1,080 international restaurant industry experts and gourmets who have traveled the world and who make up The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy. The Academy, characterized by gender balance, spans 27 distinct regions around the world, each with 40 members, including a president. No event sponsor has any influence over the voting process.
