The last suspect involved in the death of the Rotam military police officer was arrested this Tuesday afternoon (8) in Apora, in the central region of Minas Gerais.
Military Police agents arrested a 38-year-old man, whose identity was not disclosed. PM Rafael Delgado Will Nogueira, aged 35, passed away on September 28th.
The police officer was shot dead outside a nightclub in the Santa Teresinha neighborhood, in the Pampulha region of Belo Horizonte. The murder was caught on security cameras.
Confirmation of the suspect’s arrest was given by Major Layla Brunela, spokesperson for the Minas Gerais Military Police (PMMG). “We remain in the siege of this criminal and today, after anonymous complaints, we were able to arrest this criminal and provide a worthy response to Minas Gerais society,” he declared.
According to the PM, the Rotam military had been surrounding the suspect since September 30, in the Corinto region. Known as “Tolebs”, the criminal had fled to a forested area and was hiding on a farm.
The crime
The Rotam military police officer died on the night of Saturday, September 28, after an exchange of gunfire in front of a nightclub in the capital of Minas Gerais.
Security cameras that recorded the crime showed Rafael accompanied by another PM arriving in a pickup truck. They stop the car and get out, and then another car approaches and a man also gets out of the vehicle.
The three talk, until at a certain point, a fourth man who was inside the car provokes Rafael, who retaliates with several shots until he is hit and falls to the ground.
One of the suspects flees on foot, another in the car and the police officer who was with the victim approaches to see if he was alive. Then he also flees the place.
According to the Military Police, when asked about what happened, he preferred to remain silent. Due to his suspicious attitude, he is now being investigated for failure to provide assistance.
One of the suspects, aged 24, had already been arrested in the city of Corinto.
