Latam Airlines, the largest airline in South America, reported on Tuesday (8) a net loss in the third quarter of US$ 296 million, still affected by high fuel prices.
The Chile-based company’s performance compares with a loss of US$694 million in the same period in 2021.
Latam’s revenue from July to September totaled US$ 2.587 billion, up 97% over a year earlier.
The company created in 2012 by the merger of Chilean LAN with Brazilian TAM, operates in Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Peru.
The results follow the company’s exit from judicial recovery, after about two years.
“We are cautious with what we see going forward… as we see a more difficult macroeconomic environment, a pandemic that is not over yet and a fuel price that is still very high,” said Ramiro Alfonsin, vice president of finance at Latam.
