The airline Latam announced this Friday (18) that it is scheduling around 450 extra direct flights for trips from Brazil to Chile and Argentina. According to the company, the extra flights will be carried out from December 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, a period that includes the end of year festivities and summer vacations.
The destinations Argentina and Chile are the most targeted by Brazilians, according to Latam. The measure was taken due to the high demand for flights to, mainly, Argentina at the end of this year. Latam estimates that it will serve around 65,000 extra passengers with the new flights.
In August, the company informed that it identified a 50% growth in the number of passengers from Brazil to Buenos Aires, from the first to the second quarter of this year.
This is because the neighboring country is facing an economic crisis that has strongly devalued the local currency – at the same time that the real is devalued against the dollar – making it an attractive destination for Brazilian tourists.
The flights will depart from Guarulhos Airport, in São Paulo, Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro, Afonso Pena, in Curitiba (PR), and Hercílio Luz, in Florianópolis (SC).
This November, the company expects to recover up to 80% of its international capacity in Brazil, compared to the same month of 2019.
