Aware of its role in promoting sustainability, LATAM has made commitments, within the Circular Economy Pillar, to be a company with zero single-use plastics by 2023 and zero waste to landfills by 2027.
To be part of the solution is to promote change, to be part of the evolution that transforms the way we live, work and relate to each other. It is to enable the transition from the linear economy – based on extracting, producing and discarding – to the circular economy, which promotes reuse and sustainable practices that bring significant positive impacts to society and the environment.
Since January of this year, LATAM has entered into a partnership with flocka social impact business in Rio Grande do Sul, specializing in creative reuse (upcycling).
With the donation of 10 tons of used uniforms, Revoada gave new life to these materials, transforming them into new products, such as shoulder bags and office cases. In addition to donating the raw material, LATAM ordered the production of 1,000 corporate gifts for use by the company itself, and part of them were distributed to customers during Rock in Rio.
This initiative is connected to LATAM’s business strategy, which is supported by the Sustainability Plan, which, in addition to Creating Shared Value, also has the Circular Economy as a pillar. And this initiative meets these two commitments.
As important as reusing materials to promote sustainable fashion and preserve the environment, it is generating employment and income for more than 3,000 women in situations of social vulnerability. In all, 14 community associations are involved in this project, which plays a very important role in promoting female empowerment and restoring self-esteem.
“We are very happy with this partnership with LATAM. The uniforms reinvention project is positively impacting the environment and the lives of many people, especially women, who are having the opportunity to work on the project and generate income for their families. We strongly believe in sustainable intelligence and the power of networking, where everyone wins and together we solve great challenges. Revoada is proud to be part of this LATAM journey towards sustainability and the circular economy”, highlights Itiana Pasetti, Founding Partner of Revoada.
Soon, LATAM will donate another batch with more than 15 tons of used uniforms to continue this important social transformation project.
“With this, we will continue this project, which is in line with our commitments to promote a more inclusive circular economy, stimulating employability and, consequently, the financial autonomy of women in vulnerable situations. The partnership with Revoada is making it possible to materialize important fronts that we defend and support, such as the inclusion and empowerment of women in the role of leader of projects developed in the most diverse areas of society.”, emphasizes Gislaine Rossetti, director of Institutional and Regulatory Relations at LATAM Brazil.
Being part of the transition from the linear economy to the circular economy brings benefits in all areas, such as environmental preservation, income generation and the creation of new business models.
Fostering the transformation of people, spaces and processes through projects like this one reinforces LATAM’s commitment to sustainable development.
